Accessible Climate Strategies (ACS) is dedicated to shaping a more inclusive, accessible future for people with disabilities (PWDs). We believe that climate change is one of the most existential threats to humanity today – and recognize that people with disabilities are disproportionately harmed by its many effects. As awareness of climate change grows, we work with policymakers, businesses, educators, advocates, and other allies to draw connections between disability and climate change and adapt accordingly.
Too often, disability rights go unrecognized and unaddressed as we understand and adapt to climate change. If we are to ensure disability rights well into the future, PWDs must be at the table – and our adaptation must be accessible right off the bat. Early investments in accessibility both support human rights and prevent the need for retrofits or changing plans later on.
Our main focus areas are broad-scale climate adaptation; housing, transportation and other infrastructure; disaster readiness and response; financial literacy and empowerment; and public education and engagement. If you’d like to learn more about these topics, please visit our blog or browse our resources on climate change and disability rights.
We work with partners through general consulting, presentations, and collaboration & advocacy – so if you’d like to work together, feel free to contact us.
